October kicked off with a double meeting weekend for Bambino driver Adam Croft, with visits to Glan y Gors (GYG) and Hooton Park. The team travelled down on Friday afternoon to set up camp at the GYG circuit. Awaking in the paddock area Saturday morning provided Adam with a taster of what it is like to be amongst the top teams as they started preparations for the day ahead. 5 Bambinos took to the track and managed to complete over 8 sessions including a lunchtime standing start race. Adam set his best time of the day of 1.01.00, which was just over 0.7seconds quicker than his visit in similar weather conditions the previous month. Following the lunchtime fun race the circuit owners gathered all the Bambino competitors together and awarded them trophies.
Sunday morning saw the team set off on the 1 hour drive from GYG to Hooton Park, leaving the sun behind and being greeted by somewhat damper conditions. The team started Adam out on a cautious wet set up with Adam posting some middle order times amongst the 11 strong field. Session on session, Adam continued to improve his times and started to creep into the top 3 lap times. With further minor chassis adjustments and just 3 sessions remaining, Adam posted a time of 52.10 which was just over 0.2 faster than the nearest Comer rival. This time stood for the remaining sessions, giving Adam his maiden Comer win.
Commenting on the weekend Adam's father said "We've had a fantastic weekend, enjoyed some really good racing and met some great people. GYG really is a superb place to go racing. The track alone provides the drivers with a number of challenges due to the dramatic elevation changes and blind entry corners. It has great facilities (showers / catering) making it an easy decision for us to camp overnight. The owners made the day extra special by holding a mini "fun" race and presenting trophies. To move onto Hooton and gain our maiden win in Comers was amazing. We've been knocking on the door for a while, and when Adam had the leading Comer time, I was being rather cheeky asking other teams whether they wanted to end the day early, to which I received a resounding "NO!". In the final session my heart was really in my mouth when Adam's carb snapped, leaving him stranded in the paddock and me keeping my fingers crossed." Luckily his best time stood, rounding off a great weekend."
