           <title>World Champs Preview</title>
           <link>http://www.mykartingworld.net/news/index.cfm/2011/11/8/World-Champs-Preview</link>
           <description>
It is crunch time for Dr Vries and Albon. Having visited Germany, Spain, Belgium and Italy, the World KF1 Championship is about to end in Japan on November 10-13 at the circuit of Suzuka, which many drivers rate as one of their favourite tracks.
Although four drivers can still dream of winning the title from a mathematical viewpoint, the main favourites are tipped as being two of the competition&amp;rsquo;s youngest drivers, and judging by their supporters (McLaren for one, Red Bull for the other) they are also likely to have a great career in motorsport ahead of them, namely the Dutchman Nyck de Vries (Zanardi/Parilla) and Britain&amp;rsquo;s Alexander Albon (Intrepid/TM). Somewhat further down in the classification but still in with a little hope are Team Tony Kart&amp;rsquo;s Italians Flavio Camponeschi and Ignazio d&amp;rsquo;Agosto.
Further to the decision pronounced a few days ago by the International Court of Appeal after an incident which occurred in the Belgian event between de Vries and Camponeschi, the gap separating the two leaders now stands at 18 points. Depending on the different possible decisions, it could have been 30 or 5, each time to the advantage of De Vries over Albon. But what are 18 points when 75 are allocated at each event? More especially as the drivers who took part in the season&amp;rsquo;s first four events will share the starting grid with new opponents since ten Japanese drivers are entered and will be determined to shine in front of their public on the occasion of this maiden World Championship held on their home ground. Although it was very prestigious, the Suzuka event has only previously had World Cup status until now.
In addition to the 4 races counting towards the World KF1 Championship (2 races on the Saturday and 2 on the Sunday), the schedule of the meeting includes the CIK-FIA Asia-Pacific KF2 Championship held over one single event. Its field will be very strong, with 36 participants comprising a selection of Japan&amp;rsquo;s best drivers battling against a few other Asian racers well-versed in international competitions (like the Thai Tanart Sathienthirakul at the wheel of a Tony/TM/Dunlop and the Indonesian Gelael Sean on a FA/Vortex/Vega), the 2010 Australian Champion Cian Fothergill (Kosmic/Vortex/Bridgestone) and a solid European delegation with Denmark as the predominant nation comprising Nicolaj Moller Madsen (FA/TM/Vega), Michelle Gatting (Birel/BMB/Vega) and Max Klinkby-Silver (Birel/BMB/Vega).

           <title>Dan Wheldon Memorial Kart Race</title>
           <link>http://www.mykartingworld.net/news/index.cfm/2011/11/8/Dan-Wheldon-Memorial-Kart-Race</link>
           <description>
Dan Wheldon will be honoured in a special memorial kart endurance event on Monday, December 5, at Daytona Milton Keynes (UK).
Appropriately staged just 10 miles away from Dan&amp;rsquo;s hometown of Emberton, Buckinghamshire, the event will see drivers from across the realms of worldwide motorsport join together to remember their close friend and colleague.&amp;nbsp;
Members of the public will also be able to honour Dan, who lost his life in the final round of the IZOD IndyCar series at Las Vegas last month, in the hope of raising funds for the Wheldon family&amp;rsquo;s nominated charity, the Alzheimer&amp;rsquo;s Society.&amp;nbsp;
Race organiser Johnny Mowlem, a long-time personal friend and successful sportscar racer, commented: &amp;ldquo;I just wanted to put together an event to honour Dan. Aside from raising funds for one of the family&amp;rsquo;s chosen charities, I wanted to bring together people who knew and raced with Dan, to have some fun in his honour and give him a send off he would have been proud of.&amp;nbsp;
&amp;ldquo;The event has the full support of Dan&amp;rsquo;s family and his dad and brothers will be taking part and share in the evening. I hope members of the public will also appreciate the opportunity to take part and remember one of Britain&amp;rsquo;s most successful and charismatic champions.&amp;rdquo;
Mowlem has already enlisted the support of 2009 FIA Formula One World Champion Jenson Button, reigning IndyCar Champion Dario Franchitti, F1 and sportscar star Anthony Davidson, Le Mans winner Guy Smith and World Touring Car Championship title contender Rob Huff, while he hopes to attract a full grid of drivers who knew or raced alongside the double Indy 500 winner and IndyCar champion.&amp;nbsp;
Between 25 and 30 teams of four people, each including a professional driver and three members of the public, will take part in the two hour endurance race aboard DMAX 125cc two-stroke water-cooled karts.&amp;nbsp;
Public places, available at just &amp;pound;175 (inclusive of VAT), can be booked by calling 0845 644 5503 or email dwmkr@daytona.co.uk while professional drivers will also make a charity donation.&amp;nbsp;
Starting at 6pm, drivers&amp;rsquo; briefing will take place at 6.30pm with practice at 7pm preceding the race start at 7.40pm. The evening will conclude with an awards presentation at 9.50pm.</description>

           <title>Barnicoat misses out in Academy</title>
           <link>http://www.mykartingworld.net/news/index.cfm/2011/11/8/Barnicoat-misses-out-in-Academy</link>
           <description>
There was a major drama at the start of the Academy Trophy Race One at Sarno on November 6th. Poleman and championship leader Charles Leclerc suddenly went from the front to a long way last on the formation lap! Two more formation laps were signalled but Leclerc could not reach the pack and had to start last. He later explained that someone had crashed into him and his chain had come off. He had to stop and put the chain back on!
His main rival Ben Barnicoat took a big lead but was eventually overtaken by the impressive Dutchman Marijn Kremers. It was not Barnicoat&amp;rsquo;s only disappointment. Leclerc steadily picked off the places and at the chequered flag was up to a very creditable 6th whilst Barnicoat was 2nd. Juha Valtanen was 3rd and fellow Finn Aatu Moilanen 5th with Russian Vsevolod Gagen in between them in 4th.
Race Two was a disaster for Barnicoat. He was in 2nd place on the opening lap when it appeared he was the innocent victim of heavy contact and he dropped to the back of the field. In the meantime Leclerc stayed clear of all problems as other drivers made contact with each other. He stayed in 3rd place for some time then quietly moved into 2nd and then took a lead which he never lost. Valtanen was 2nd and Martin Ellegard was promoted to 3rd after Kremers was penalised.
Barnicoat drove a brave race up into 13th place but it was not enough and the Brit was confined to runner-up in the championship. He was very sporting in defeat acknowledging how good the champion was but did say &amp;ldquo;I feel very disappointed because I definitely do believe I could have made a very serious challenge for this title&amp;rdquo;.&amp;nbsp;

Leclerc was focussed even after his victory. He explained that when he had to put on his chain and start last, he refused to believe he would not win. &amp;ldquo;I just had to drive as strongly as I could. I picked each place carefully and when I saw Ben Barnicoat with a problem I knew I could definitely win. This has been a good championship and I have driven my best all year&amp;rsquo;.

           <title>World title for Graham!</title>
           <link>http://www.mykartingworld.net/news/index.cfm/2011/11/8/World-title-for-Graham</link>
           <description>
Matthew Graham is the new U18 World Champion! Graham (Zanardi) follows fellow Brit Jake Dennis as the 2011 CIK-FIA &amp;ldquo;U18&amp;rdquo; World Champion in the second staging of the championship.
It was a day of changing fortune for both of the top two contenders at Sarno in Italy on November 6th. Finland&amp;rsquo;s Pyry Ovaska (Maranello), the championship leader, had a very disappointing Saturday but went into the Final with every opportunity to win the title. He started on the front row but made a slow start. Both Graham and Frenchman Anthoine Hubert (Sodi) made better starts and Ovaska was soon seen to be struggling.
But Graham was not having things all his own way as Italy&amp;rsquo;s Antonio Giovinazzi (PCR), Denmark&amp;rsquo;s Martin Mortensen (Mach 1), and France&amp;rsquo;s L&amp;eacute;o Roussel (Sodi) pressed forward. It was tight at the front but Graham made steady progress moving up to 3rd after 6 laps whilst Giovinazzi increased his lead. Henry Easthope (Sodi) and Hubert had a good battle until Graham eased by. As darkness descended Graham moved into 2nd place on lap 9 but Ovaska was dropping into the lower reaches of the top 20.
With just under two laps to go Mortensen passed Graham, but, with Ovaska&amp;rsquo;s problems, this was&amp;nbsp; not enough to prevent Graham from winning the title. &amp;ldquo;I was not certain I had won&amp;rdquo; he said, &amp;lsquo;&amp;rdquo;but when I saw my family hanging over the grandstand railing and waving and cheering, I knew I must be the champion&amp;rdquo; he acknowledged.

For Ovaska, it was a huge disappointment. &amp;ldquo;I felt I was good enough to win this championship, but some mechanical problems and also some penalties did not help me&amp;rdquo; he said with clear disappointment written all over his face.

Tom Joyner was crowned the 2011 Ginetta MSA British Short Circuit Kart Champion at PF International on October 2nd after leading the standalone championship event at PFI from start to finish. As well as the prestige of being crowned an MSA British Champion, Tom also picked up the keys to a brand new Fiat from J Edgar &amp;amp; Sons.

Dean Macdonald and William Taylforth&amp;nbsp;won the final two British Cadet Championship rounds at Ellough Park on September 24/25, but Daniel Ticktum was celebrating the most after narrowly defeating Jamie Caroline in the battle for championship glory.
In Saturday&amp;rsquo;s race Ticktum and Caroline disputed the lead with Macdonald, who eventually took his maiden win despite a late lunge by Ticktum with two corners to go.
Macdonald and Taylforth broke away from the pack in Sunday&amp;rsquo;s final. Taylforth shadowed Macdonald for the first 18 of the 19 laps, before making the winning move at the penultimate corner to score his first win.

           <title>Superkarts title decider at Oulton Park</title>
           <link>http://www.mykartingworld.net/news/index.cfm/2011/9/20/Superkarts-title-decider-at-Oulton-Park</link>
           <description>
The MSA British Superkart Championships heads to Oulton Park for its final round on September 24. The last time the Superkarts were at Oulton back in August the circuit management and marshals said it was the best and closest racing they had seen all year. A full grid of 40 Superkarts will be on track so it should be a great spectacle.
With six drivers mathematically up for the championship it is going to be a close fought meeting. Paul Platt heads the table with 290 points. Each driver can score a maximum of 80 points for the day. With two races it looks like it could go down to the final race of the day. Not only are the drivers fighting for the prestigious MSA British Championship but the winner of the championship get a test in a Ginetta G50 race car supplied by Ginetta Cars Ltd.
The championship is decided on the best 9 race scores over a total of 12 races. Platt (PVP/Honda) has already had two non-finishes so he cannot afford any problems. His double win at Thruxton at the beginning of September was his best meeting of the year. Jason Dredge (Anderson/Honda) is looking to retain his title this year. He has already won the MSA British Kart Grand Prix and the&amp;nbsp;UK Cup. Dredge is on 250 points and is in the same position as Platt with two non-scores. Sam Moss (SGH/Honda) was Mr Consistent up until Thruxton&amp;nbsp; but with two non-finishes there he is down to third in the points table. 2009 Championship winner James O&amp;rsquo;Reilly (PVP/Honda) has had five wins this year out of the ten races so far but has also had four non-finishes. He really needs to win both races and the first three not to finish.
Toby Davis (Anderson/Honda) and Louis Wall (Anderson/Honda) are back in 5th and 6th&amp;nbsp; respectively. They could in theory win but know it&amp;rsquo;s an outside chance.
Also at Oulton Park will be the 250 Division 1 BSA National Championship. These are the quickest of the Superkarts and has some of the best drivers in the World racing in it. Unfortunately this event classes with meetings in Europe but there should be some fast racing. Newcomer to the class Chris Needham has moved up from 125 ICC and has shown the established drivers that he has speed and racecraft. Gavin Bennett who has won 3 CIK-FIA European titles will be racing at Oulton.
The lap times for Superkarts at Oulton Park are comparable with Formula Renault times.

           <title>Sarno World Cups &amp; World Champs</title>
           <link>http://www.mykartingworld.net/news/index.cfm/2011/9/20/Sarno-World-Cups--World-Champs</link>
           <description>
KF1 World Champs
The fourth round of the KF1 World Championship at Sarno boasted its usual surprises and loads of suspense. Winner of the two Races on Saturday, Nyck De Vries (Zanardi-Parilla) appeared to be going out for a perfect weekend having clinched another pole position on Sunday morning. However, this time around the Dutchman missed his start and only came through the first bend in 6th place. Having climbed back into 3rd spot after three laps, he was then let down by his engine and had to throw in the towel. Flavio Camponeschi (Tony-Vortex) could not have asked for more. Having got the better of the Pole Karol Basz (RK-BMB), he took off for his second win of the season. Taking the chequered flag in second place, Felice Tiene (CRG-Maxter) was excluded for a technical non-conformity, which allowed Ignazio D&amp;rsquo;Agosto (Tony-Vortex) to score the points of second place ahead of the Belgian S&amp;eacute;bastien Bailly (Kosmic-Vortex), with a good climb up through the pack from 15th place of the grid, with Zdenek Groman (Kosmic-Vortex), Libor Toman (Birel-BMB) and Alex Albon (Intrepid-TM), not being able to take full advantage of De Vries&amp;rsquo; retirement.
&amp;nbsp;
The fourth and final KF1 race at the foot of the Vesuvius was an entirely different scenario with a highly inspired Albon at the start who appeared to be heading off towards victory. But this was without counting on Camponeschi, in top form in front of his home crowd. Slowly reducing the gap with the Brit, the Italian grabbed the lead some four laps from the finish. And this whilst Basz managed to claim the last step of the podium ahead of the Czech Groman. Further back there was an excellent battle for 5th place between the Japanese driver Yu Kanamaru (Tony-Vortex), De Vries, back up from 17th place, Bailly, the Frenchman L&amp;eacute;o Roussel (Sodi-Parilla) and D&amp;rsquo;Agosto. De Vries limited the damage for the championship thanks to points scored with this 6th place. Better than that, he has increased his lead over Albon to 30 points prior to the final in Suzuka, scheduled for the 11th through to 13th November. However, De Vries, winner of nine races out of the 16 held up until now, could lose his 25 points scored for his victory in Race 2 held at Genk (he had been excluded as the result of coming into contact with Flavio Camponeschi). The appeal put in by his rival will be judged on Thursday 27th October by the International Court of Appeal. Notwithstanding his 50 points backlog in the provisional rankings, Camponeschi could well still also claim the title in Japan in the event that De Vries and Albon experience a bad weekend.
&amp;nbsp;
KF2 World Cup
Winner of the World Cup following a Final over a hard battle of some 30 kilometres Loris Spinelli (Tony-Vortex) fully deserved hearing his national anthem played in his honour at Sarno. Already leading after the qualifying heats, the Italian took full advantage of his pole position from beginning to end, which allowed him to be at the front of the grid for the start of the Final, the sole decisive race. Having taken the best start Spinelli was unable to build up a gap. Not only was he rejoined but even overtaken by Antonio Maria Giovinazzi (PCR-Parilla) and by the Thai driver (competing with an Irish licence) Tanart Sathienthirakul (Tony-TM). But Spinelli did not panic. Just before the halfway mark, he retook the lead never to relinquish it. At the young age of only 15, he can proudly add a victory in the KF2 World Cup to his record of achievements.
&amp;nbsp;
Second to cross the line, the Dane Christian Sorensen (Tony-Vortex) was almost as delighted as the winner, having climbed back from 7th place on the grid and especially after having overtaken Giovinazzi in the final lap. The Italians Paolo Ippolito (Tony-Vortex) and Stefano Cucco (Birel-Parilla) also delighted the local spectators, with four of their representatives finishing in the first five. The top-10 was completed by the Frenchman Pascal Belmaaziz (DR-Parilla), overtaken by Cucco in the final lap, the Italian Gianni Vigorito (Birel-BMB), Sathienthirakul, who fell back to 8th place, the Brit Sam Snell (Energy-TM) and the Frenchman Victor Sendin (Tony-Vortex).
&amp;nbsp;
KF3 World Cup
The most prestigious event amongst the Juniors, the 2011 World Cup should remain in everyone&amp;rsquo;s memory because the number of candidates out for victory, not forgetting the young drivers all with an excellent potential future ahead of them, was especially important.&amp;nbsp; And yet one of them was to excel above all the others throughout the weekend. Having set best lap time during the qualifying heats Charles Leclerc (Intrepid-TM) was only stopped from victory in the qualifying heats as the result of being penalised twice for excessive speed at the start. And so for the Pre-Final he set off from 3rd place &amp;hellip; which he won, which entitled him to pole position for the decisive Final. However a rather difficult first lap saw the Monegasque drop down to 4th position, behind the Frenchman Esteban Ocon (FA-Vortex), the Brit Callan O&amp;rsquo;Keefe (FA-Vortex) and the Dutchman Max Verstappen (CRG-Parilla), finally being forced to retire a few laps from the finish. From the second lap, O&amp;rsquo;Keefe, previously 3rd in the KF3 World Cup in 2010, took over the lead and when Leclerc managed to grab second place, the gap was practically two seconds. The Monegasque however gleaned away tenths of seconds lap after lap to finally take over the lead 5 laps from the chequered flag. Following his victory last year at the Monaco Kart Cup, Leclerc has now enjoyed his second major success, and he hardly had time to remove his helmet before he also received the congratulations by telephone from his manager Nicolas Todt.
&amp;nbsp;
Highly disappointed to have come so close to victory, O&amp;rsquo;Keefe was still pleased to score his second consecutive podium in the World Cup, whilst Harrison Scott (Intrepid-TM), previously 3rd in the European Championship in 2010, once again managed to grab the bronze medal. The Brit took advantage of the battle between Ocon and the Italian Mattia Vita (Birel-BMB) in the last lap, the latter two losing several places in the adventure. The Norwegian Oystein Helgheim (Parolin-TM) finished in 4th place ahead of &amp;laquo;&amp;nbsp;Speedy&amp;nbsp;&amp;raquo;, alias Antonio Fuoco (Tony-Vortex), the Brit Matthew Graham (Zanardi-Parilla), Vita (dropping back to 7th), the Spaniard Alex Palou Montalbo (FA-Vortex), the Dane Nicklas Nielsen (Tony-Vortex) and the Norwegian Dennis Olsen (Energy-TM). As for Ocon, he finished in 14th place overall.

           <title>KF JAMBOREE AT SARNO</title>
           <link>http://www.mykartingworld.net/news/index.cfm/2011/9/15/KF-JAMBOREE-AT-SARNO</link>
           <description>
Two weeks after the gearbox KZ karts&amp;rsquo; main event in Belgium, it will be the turn of KFs to reach the highlight of their season, with the CIK-FIA World Cups for KF2 and KF3, and not forgetting KF1s, for which it will be the fourth of their five-round 2011 World Championship. It is on the 1,700 metres of the Circuito Internazionale of Sarno-Napoli (ITA) that everybody who is anybody in KF will gather on 16, 17 and 18 September for a meeting which will almost look like a marathon: with entry lists of over one hundred competitors, both in KF2 (102 entries) and in KF3 (119 Juniors), in addition to the big names of KF1, the official programme extends over three competition days busy with 33(!) qualifying heats and 10 final phase races.
&amp;nbsp;
In KF1, the two current great hopes of international karting who are the Dutchman Nyck de Vries and the Briton Alexander Albon will continue their duel. Even though one result achieved by de Vries is still subject to an appeal to be judged at the end of October, the provisional classification of the championship makes one think that the title fight will be focused on these two young drivers, who until now have ideally been both consistent and fast. With a question mark hanging over the International Court of Appeal&amp;rsquo;s verdict until 27 October, which may deprive de Vries of one of his Genk victories, there will not be any room for a wait-and-see or strategic restraint race at Sarno, and it will make the show all the more intense!
In KF2, a great many drivers will have their eyes on the World Cup. The list of potential winners amongst the 102 entries is as large as the number of competitors (34) who will be eligible for the final on Sunday . The Belgian Sami Luka is keen on achieving a tremendous double after landing the European Championship of the category in July, whereas the Thai Tanart Sathientirakul is determined to overcome in Sarno his disappointment of having lost this European title because of a penalty for exceeding the speed limit during the start procedure. Among the favourites it is worth noting in particular the Brit Tom Joyner, Finland&amp;rsquo;s Pyry Ovaska and Niklas Tiihonen, France&amp;rsquo;s Enzo Guibbert and Victor Sendin, the Italian Antonio Maria Giovinazzi, the Spaniard Carlos Gil and a whole Danish delegation particularly fearsome on paper, with Nikolaj Moller Madsen, Michelle Gatting, Jacob Nortoft, Andreas Hansen or Max Klinkby-Silver.
In KF3, the successor to Alexander Albon, who claimed this World Cup for Juniors in 2010 in Portugal, will not be less open. The likes of Russell, Hansson, Jupp, Barnicoat, Scott, Boccolacci, Leclerc, Verstappen, Ocon, Graham, Olsen, O&amp;rsquo;Keefe, Helgheim or Piccini are indeed tipped ,but many of the other 106 entries can create a surprise if they are in ideal form&amp;hellip; a bit like Antonio Maria Niceta&amp;rsquo;s performance in 2008 on the same Sarno track in the maiden edition of the World Cup for KF3.

From Friday 16 September at 10am, you can follow qualifying practice of KF2 and KF3 live on www.cikfia.com. The schedule of the event is so busy that an initial wave of 12 qualifying heats will take place on Friday afternoon! The Sunday finals will get live television coverage on the Sport Italia channel.

Callan O&amp;rsquo;Keeffe and Roy Johnson shared the wins amid tricky wet conditions at round six of the MSA British Junior Kart Championship at Rowrah on September 11.&amp;nbsp;
&amp;nbsp;
O&amp;rsquo;Keeffe started the first final from pole and thundered to a 9s win over Ben Barnicoat and Nikita Sidorov. However, in the second final O&amp;rsquo;Keeffe and Barnicoat spun off at the first hairpin and, although both were&amp;nbsp;able to continue, it left Sidorov in the lead.
&amp;nbsp;
But Johnson, who had dropped a lap in the first final after dicing for 4th with Sam Webster, was hammering through the pack, and overhauled the Russian to win.&amp;nbsp;The recovering O&amp;rsquo;Keeffe followed through for 2nd to keep a healthy points lead, while&amp;nbsp;Barnicoat could only salvage 13th.

           <title>FKS crowns two champions</title>
           <link>http://www.mykartingworld.net/news/index.cfm/2011/9/8/FKS-crowns-two-champions</link>
           <description>
Whilton Mill played host to the penultimate weekend of the 2011 Formula One Management backed Formula Kart Stars championship on September 3/4. Pride of place in the paddock went to one of Martin Hines&amp;rsquo; 1982 Hermetite Zip Shadow Yamaha Twin 250 Superkarts and the championship paid tribute to &amp;lsquo;Mr Karting,&amp;rsquo; one of the founders of the series, with a minute&amp;rsquo;s silence during Saturday&amp;rsquo;s driver parade.
&amp;nbsp;
MSA British Cadet Championship
Daniel Ticktum arrived with a narrow lead over Ryan Anderton but emerged with a new major rival in the form of Jamie Caroline.
Caroline won a tense four-kart battle in Saturday&amp;rsquo;s Final, beating Billy Monger, Ticktum and Dean Macdonald to the line with Anderton only 6th behind Thanassi Barnicoat and he repeated that feat on Sunday in a fantastic dice with the same three drivers. On this occasion Ticktum&amp;nbsp; picked up two places on the final lap to take 2nd from Macdonald and Monger with Shanaka Clay and Josh Smith completing the top six.
With two rounds remaining Ticktum has a 19-point advantage over Caroline, who has won the last three finals, with Anderton 45 points behind Ticktum in 3rd.
&amp;nbsp;
Minimax
A double victory for Josh White helped push him more than 60 points clear of his closest rival but he had to battle through from two poor qualifying performances to take the victories.
On Saturday White took advantage of a coil problem for Jack Mitchell to beat Connor Mills and podium debutant Aaron Thompson with Harry Williams enjoying his best finish in 4th and Sam Oram Jones in 5th.
Sunday saw White catch and pass Mitchell late in the Final although a 2nd place finish for Mitchell kept him with a faint shot at the title in the final two rounds. Oram Jones completed the podium with Brett Ward and Mills rounding out the top five.
&amp;nbsp;
Junior Rotax
Wins number six and seven helped seal the championship for James Singleton, who watched his nearest title rival Sam Marsh suffer a nightmarish weekend.
Marsh was one of 22 drivers to receive a 10s penalty during the weekend for contravening the &amp;lsquo;white line&amp;rsquo; rule, which dropped him from 4th to 11th in Saturday&amp;rsquo;s Final while a black flag in Sunday&amp;rsquo;s race eliminated him from title contention.
Luke Whitworth finished 2nd on both days with George Williams and Bobby Thompson completing the podium on Saturday and Sunday respectively.
Ryan Norris now moves into 2nd place overall but cannot catch the flying Welshman in the standings.
&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;
KF3
The KF3 championship was decided over the two days at Whilton Mill and in his first KF3 race in the UK, 12 year-old Callum Ilott, the youngest driver in the field, scooped the title and will join the other champions on stage at the Autosport Awards in December.
Ilott earned himself the TAG Heuer watch awarded to each Formula Kart Stars Champion thanks to a last lap pass on Ricky Collard in Saturday&amp;rsquo;s final and a hard fought win on Sunday.
Ben Barnicoat crossed the line 1st on Saturday but was penalised 10s for contravening the white line ruling. Barnicoat led Sunday&amp;rsquo;s Final and looked set to snatch the title but faded to 4th behind Sam Webster and an inspired Matthew Graham, who snatched 2nd in the overall standings after a stunning recovery drive following a first turn spin.
&amp;nbsp;
The final two rounds of the 2011 Formula Kart Stars Championship takes place at Ellough Park on September 24/25 where the MSA British Cadet and Formula Minimax champions will be crowned.&amp;nbsp;

           <description>
Excellent prizes are on offer at the second &amp;lsquo;Ciao Thomas Knopper Memorial Race&amp;rsquo; that takes place at Kerpen, Germany on October 1/2. Thomas was a young, successful racer whose life was tragically cut short in a startline accident in 2009 at Liedolsheim, just two years after he had become the CIK KZ2 European Champion.
Bas Lammers, Nyck De Vries and Joey Hansson are among the top drivers who have already entered and there is said to be a special mystery guest in attendance all day Sunday! We can only speculate, and please don&amp;rsquo;t take our word for it, but Kerpen is of course synonymous with a certain Formula 1 driver who has just celebrated a special anniversary.
To add to the spectacle there will be a drivers&amp;rsquo; presentation, show band, parachute display, Formula Renault demo, opportunities to be driven around the circuit in race cars and spectacular fireworks to close the event.
There is prize money in each class of at least 1000 Euros, while in KZ2 as well as the Ciao Thomas Knopper trophy won last year by Paolo De Conto there is a prize fund of 4000 Euros &amp;ndash; 1st place 2500 Euros, 2nd 1500 Euros, 3rd 750 Euros. The driver with the most fastest laps in the Final will also win a Formula Renault test courtesy of MP Motorsport.

Classes are KZ2, KF2, KF3 and Minis and for entries visit www.kart-club-kerpen.de [entry form under the heading &amp;lsquo;Service &amp;ndash; Unterlagen&amp;rsquo; (Nennformular)].

Jamie Caroline moved into second place in the MSA British Cadet championship standings after taking a double victory at Whilton Mill on September 3 &amp;amp; 4
Caroline edged out Billy Monger, Daniel Ticktum and Dean Macdonald in a tense final on Saturday, with the top four crossing the line less than seven tenths of a second apart. Behind them Thanassi Barnicoat passed three karts around the outside of &amp;lsquo;The Boot&amp;rsquo; on the final lap to snatch fifth.
Sunday&amp;rsquo;s final was another classic slipstreaming affair with Caroline, Ticktum, Monger and Macdonald breaking away from the pack again. Caroline worked his way to the front of the group for his second win of the weekend ahead of Ticktum, who maintains his championship lead.

           <link>http://www.mykartingworld.net/news/index.cfm/2011/9/5/World-Champs--World-Cups-at-Genk</link>
           <description>
Notwithstanding the early morning rain, no less than 5,000 spectators were at the Genk on September 4 to watch the third event of the KF1 World Championship as well the KZ1 and KZ2 World Cups. And they thoroughly enjoyed the visit, as the spectacle being provided by the best karting drivers was enough to take their breath away!

KF1: Victories for Albon and De Vries
On the Saturday the Italian Flavio Camponeschi (Tony Kart-Vortex) clinched the first Race ahead of the Brits Jordon Lennox-Lamb (CRG-Maxter) and Alex Albon (Intrepid-TM). As for the championship leader, the Dutchman Nyck De Vries (Zanardi-Parilla), he finished 4th after a splendid climb-up from last place on the grid, as a result of a technical problem during the practice sessions. In the second Race however De Vries was the first to take the chequered flag ahead of Lennox-Lamb and the Italian Felice Tiene (CRG-Maxter). However De Vries was excluded from the Race as a result of contact with Camponeschi. The Dutchman&amp;rsquo;s Entrant has made an appeal regarding the decision.
As a spectacle, the two Races held on the Sunday were on a par with those of the previous day. Having grabbed pole position during the morning practice sessions, held on a drying track, De Vries got the better of everyone at the start prior to committing a small error when braking too late in the first bend. Albon slotted into the opening at the same time as the Belgian S&amp;eacute;bastien Bailly (Kosmic-Vortex). For De Vries, matters became even more complicated seeing he was lightly nudged by another driver returning to the track and spun. Whilst Albon built a gap to a ferocious battle for second place, De Vries managed to climb back into the pack. At the end the Dutchman still managed to grab the lowest step of the podium behind a determined Albon and Bailly.
Having taken full advantage of his pole position in order to have a good start in the fourth and final Race of the weekend, Albon soon found himself being threatened by De Vries. Taking advantage of their fight the Italians Ignazio D&amp;rsquo;Agosto (Tony Kart-Vortex) and Camponeschi went as far as to surprise the two leaders by taking over the race reins. But De Vries was too strong. Five laps from the chequered flag he recovered the lead and flew off to clinch victory. At the end of the race Albon managed to grab second place just a hair&amp;rsquo;s breadth ahead of Camponeschi, the Frenchman Anthoine Hubert (Sodi-Parilla), who put in a brilliant climb up through the pack from 21st place on the grid, and L&amp;eacute;o Roussel.
In the championship De Vries and Albon have distanced themselves from the rest and will continue their duel in less than two weeks time at Sarno, in the vicinity of Naples, which will stage the fourth and penultimate rendezvous of the season.

KZ1&amp;nbsp;: Thonon suspense all the way
Pure spectacle and suspense, the scenario of this World Cup was on a par with the very best of Hitchcock&amp;rsquo;s films. After two days of sun and heat, the rain which had been forecast was at the rendezvous on Sunday morning and so it was on a rain soaked track that the 34 finalists took the start of the Pre-Final. On home soil the Belgian Jonathan Thonon (CRG-Maxter) performed brilliantly by clinching pole position for the Final ahead of the Italian Sauro Cesetti (Birel-BMB), who had come back from 13th place on the grid, Arnaud Kozlinski (CRG-Maxter), the young Dutch female Beitske Visser (Intrepid-TM), the pole-sitter Davide For&amp;eacute; (CRG-Maxter) and the title holder Bas Lammers (Intrepid-TM), who in the rain managed to save a difficult start to the weekend by climbing back up from 19th into 6th place.
At the time of the Final the track had dried out and it would be anyone&amp;rsquo;s guess as to who would come out as the winner. Quickest at the start, Thonon was soon disposed of by Visser. A few hundred metres further on it was Lammers&amp;rsquo; turn to take over the command ahead of his young compatriot and &amp;hellip; Yannick de Brabander (Parolin-TM), who had come back from 8th place on the grid. In an incredible overtaking manoeuvre the Belgian got the better of the two Dutch drivers. Whilst Visser immediately threw in the towel, engine cut-off, four drivers managed to escape from the pack. Behind de Brabander, For&amp;eacute; (four times World Champion and winner of the World Cup back in 2006), Thonon (three times winner of the KZ1 World Cup) and Lammers, the title holder, constantly swapped places, whilst at the same time putting pressure on the leader. At the beginning of the last lap de Brabander still had a small lead over Thonon and For&amp;eacute;, Lammers having been left behind. However Thonon had not had his last say. Taking on a most improbable attack some two bends from the finish, Thonon surprised de Brabander and won himself his fourth World Cup! Obviously disappointed his rival did in fact provide for a one-two Belgian finish &amp;hellip; to the great delight of the crowds who had fully appreciated one of the greatest Finals of these last few years.
On the lowest step of the podium, For&amp;eacute; has shown that notwithstanding his 37 years his passion and speed have remained intact! Following his victory in 2010, this time around Lammers found himself at the foot of the podium ahead of Kozlinski, Antonio Piccioni (Parolin-TM), Marco Ardigo (Tony Kart-Vortex), Cesetti (Birel-BMB), J&amp;eacute;r&amp;eacute;my Igl&amp;eacute;sias (Intrepid-TM) and Thomas Mich (Monza-TM).
&amp;nbsp;
KZ2: Hanssen from one end to the other
Even though he was not exactly competing in his own country, the Dutchman Joey Hanssen (Lenzokart-TM) rather showed the impression of being at home in Genk. Winner of the Pre-Final, Hanssen then put up an irreproachable performance during the Final which he practically led from beginning to end. Even though the Croatian Kristijan Habulin (CRG-Maxter) took the lead at the start, the Dutchman soon reclaimed his right as from the second lap to take off and head for an indisputable victory. Behind him it was another Dutchman Yard Pex (CRG-Maxter) who ensured another double for the drivers emanating from the Netherlands. Having set off from only 17th place following an accident at the start of the Pre-Final, the Italian European Champion Fabian Federer (CRG-TM) climbed back up through the pack to finally clinch the lowest step of the podium in front of Habulin and the Italian Yuri Lucati (BRM-Maxter).

           <title>Perfect Platt at Thruxton</title>
           <link>http://www.mykartingworld.net/news/index.cfm/2011/9/5/Perfect-Platt-at-Thruxton</link>
           <description>
Paul Platt hauled himself to the top of the MSA British Superkart Championship&amp;nbsp;with two well judged wins at Thruxton on Seember 4. &amp;nbsp;Starting the day in fourth position in&amp;nbsp;the series, he was hoping&amp;nbsp;his rivals would slip up.&amp;nbsp; After grabbing pole position with a time inside the lap record he didn&apos;t make the best&amp;nbsp;start in race one and was&amp;nbsp;in fourth place at the end of lap one. However, he was soon on the tail of reigning champion Jason Dredge and they pulled away from the rest to have their own scrap. Lap after lap&amp;nbsp;they were side by side into the Club chicane. However on lap 8 Dredge pulled into the pits to retire&amp;nbsp;with a broken chain. This elevated Louis Wall to second, over 7.5s behind. Platt backed off over the remaining laps and Wall closed in but ran out of time and had to settle for second place.
In race two Platt made a perfect start and led from&amp;nbsp;Wall, with&amp;nbsp;championship rivals Dredge and James O&apos;Reilly making up ground from the back of the grid.&amp;nbsp;O&apos;Reilly charged through to third place by half distance but retired soon after with a split exhaust.&amp;nbsp;Dredge took over in third place&amp;nbsp;and closed&amp;nbsp;on Wall who was reducing the gap to Platt. A 2.1s lead was cut when Platt had to back off as his Honda engine was starting to overheat. But on the last lap he &apos;went for it&apos; and managed to secure his second win of the day.
As a mark of respect to the late Marin Hines the drivers held a minutes silence and all carried a small number 42 on their Superkarts.
With one meeting to go at Oulton Park on September 24 and 40 points for a win available in each of the two races, it&apos;s going down to the wire. The top six are only split by 60 points.

           <link>http://www.mykartingworld.net/news/index.cfm/2011/9/5/Red-Bull-Speed-Jam-in-Cardiff</link>
           <description>
Red Bull Speed Jam on September 4 took over Cardiff Bay for a day of the most exciting motorsport action that the UK has ever seen. Red Bull&amp;rsquo;s greatest pilots and drivers from across their F1, NASCAR, aerobatic and motorbike stunt teams came together for this one-off, high-octane event.
The day&amp;rsquo;s event also played host to the karting competition, Red Bull Kart Fight. On a specially-designed track 36 finalists battled it out for a place on the podium and a once-in-a-lifetime F1 experience, courtesy of Red Bull Racing. After the action-packed heats, Bradley Philpot from Northampton was crowned the 2011 Red Bull Kart Fight Champion. Bradley is the organiser of the British Rental Kart Championship and is obviously handy behind the wheel too!
